summer fun

We have to be pretty strategic when it comes to summer fun with Noah. There are a lot of variables to consider when taking him out. While he's doing amaaaazingly well with his sensory issues, sometimes too much is just too much. I've taken him out before to places I thought he'd love, only for him to ask to leave. So when it comes to splash pads, playgrounds, the beach... we usually try to go when it's not going to be as crowded (or as hot). Brad has Wednesdays off from work, so I decided it'd be a good time to take Noah to our favorite fountain to play in. It's fenced in, so no worrying about him darting off (which kids with autism are prone to do). I was hoping most of the crowds would be at Wednesday night church or VBS. Turns out, we did good. There were only a few other kids, most younger than Noah (so no worrying about him getting trampled). He had a blast.

While we were sitting there, Brad called my dad and stepmom to see if they wanted to meet us up there, since they live about 5 minutes away. They watched Noah play a little, then my dad mentioned "ice cream". If you've followed us for any length of time, you know my kid is crazy about ice cream (it's in his genes, he can't help it). He immediately grabbed my dad's hand and walked out with him. They replaced the local Coldstone Creamery with a Ben & Jerry's (best. move. ever.) and Little Man was a fan. My dad ordered him a large (of course, because that's what grandparents do). Noah didn't finish it obviously, but he certainly was a happy camper.

(this one cracks me up every time)

I'm really not a fan of the heat or the crowds or getting sticky & sweaty... but summer is so good in so many other ways that it makes up for it.

Here's to the start of making lots of memories in the next couple months!

I have a strange feeling Noah could hold his own against the big kids "trampling" :) hehe.

That picture? Of him looking at the ice cream?

PRICELESS!!!

I love it!

(I'm jealous you have a splash park. Our little town doesn't have one and they look like SO much fun!!)
